Owen Johnson commissioned this track from me. I met Owen through comics and at that time he was working on a title (and kind of multimedia project) called Raygun Roads. This track, I believe, both takes part in a fictional word and spoken from the point of view of a fictional character within that world?

Anyway, Owen had heard Sleepwalk and Skull Puppies already so just sent me these lyrics and told me to go nuts. We also share a love of Bruce Springsteen so I knew it could be anywhere from total melodrama to anthemic rock. In the end I decided to do both.

Noticeably, this one was recorded and performed entirely by me. The drums were recorded into a USB mic from the 'drumkit' setting on a Casio keyboard. In fact, all of the instruments, vocals and tracks were recorded with a USB mic - including the opening sample, a voicemail left on my phone by a drunk Owen while he watched me pull shapes at the after party for Thought Bubble comic convention here in Leeds.

I'm sure both of us would write something very different if we were to collaborate again now. And maybe it's just hearing myself sing lyrics that aren't mine or a cover, but I always had a soft spot for this daft little song.
